Hi there friends of Ted – and welcome to my very first blog. I thought it would be nice to fill you in on what we’ve been doing at Tractorland lately. The year kicked off with outings to Badminton and the Bath & West Shows where we took our brand new Barn, a beautiful wooden field shelter made locally for us by JWS stable makers. Visitors could watch Ted films, read, draw and play in the cosy barn away from the inevitably mixed English weather! If you want to come and visit Ted in his new barn keep an eye on my events page for locations.
Our biggest adventure this year followed in June when we held the very first ‘Tractor Ted Farm Show’ on the meadows of Longleat House in Wiltshire. Team Ted spent months working out the most fun things for Ted fans to see and do. Les and Farmer David put up a big show ring and we had a back-to-back timetable of events from digger displays to duck herding, bale wrapping, vintage tractors and falconry. Vaughan Agri brought along a brand new Claas combine harvester, huge new tractors and fork lifts. We had four tractor and trailers taking rides around the Longleat estates and exhibitors of local produce showed children how apples are pressed, how to keep hens and how to care for orphan lambs. There were also lots and lots of farm animals to meet and non-stop sheep shearing. We had over 4000 visitors during the weekend with very positive feedback so we are now planning to repeat it next year with lots more of everything. Its likely to be in late May, so for those of you who live a while away remember that Centre Parcs are next door and Longleat has a great camp site.
We’re now finalising new products for Christmas and getting all our IT systems completely revamped to make communications and deliveries to you much more efficient.
I’m now off to see if the wheat is ready to harvest which I’ll be doing with the biggest harvester available in the UK and filming it for you to see in my next DVD. Have a happy summer.... beep beep ...Ted.
